Yoga & Meditation
Yoga originated in India approx. 5,000 years ago. It focuses on strength, flexibility, balance and breathing to support positive mental and physical wellbeing.
Yoga is a series of postures using breath to increase strength and flexibility within the body and mind.
Yoga can be seen as a moving meditation. Meditation is another aspect that comes from yoga.
It builds awareness by looking inwards in order to quieten the mind. This allows the individual to become more present and focussed on the task to hand and throughout the day. There are different ways to meditate, but what is important to remember is that there is no right or wrong way to do it
Yoga is a safe and effective way to increase physical activity based on strength, flexibility and balance. Evidence suggests that regular yoga can help depression, stress, high blood pressure, heart disease, and minor aches and pains.
Yoga is suitable for everyone and anyone. There are many different forms of yoga therefore it is important to try different teachers and types out to see which feels right for you and your body.
